THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Set Photos Feature Christian Bale and Joseph Gordon-Levitt | Collider

Production on The Dark Knight Rises has now moved onto New York City for two weeks of location filming, which means you can expect quite a few set photos to surface. Such is the case today, as we’ve got some images featuring Christian Bale and Joseph Gordon-Levitt on set, as well as Bale hanging out in Trump Tower pretending it’s Wayne Enterprises (silly Bale, always getting his buildings mixed up), and a host of Wayne’s flashy car. The images don’t spoil anything from the film, so feel free to peruse if you’re so inclined.

Hit the jump to check out the set photos. The film also stars Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine. The Dark Knight Rises opens July 20th, 2012.     “Christopher Nolan has made it clear that the new “Batman” film franchise will not bring Robin into the mythology as long as he is directing, apparently having stated that Robin is in a crib somewhere still and the timeline isn’t appropriate for him to enter the picture.”

    Directors have been known to lie to protect their movie you know….If ever nolan was gonna have a Robin in his films then this is it a cop called Robin a gritty side kick with a violent streak! Robin doesn’t have to be camp.

    Nolan has said that robin would never appear in HIS films. WB has made it clear that they are going to make more films, so who is to say that this film will not set up Levitt as robin (or nightwing) for future movies. Even better, Levitt could be set up as Batman’s successor ala Batman Beyond. Bane is in the move, and he is famous in the comics for ending batman’s career, so this conclusion dosent seem that far off.

  I know! Thank god someone else finds the Avenger’s preview score extremely annoying and cheap. Using rock music in a preview automatically removes credibility. I’ll spend my money on Batman, excited!!

Yes, I know Dick Grayson was Robin before he became Nightwing, but it isn’t as if Nolan hasn’t taken small liberties with the mythos so far. Hell, Rachel Dawes wasn’t even a canonical characther, so saying Robin won’t be in the film technically doesn’t mean Nightwing won’t

Yeah…I love JGL & think it’d be sweet as shiblit if he became Batman’s Back Up plan & way out. I’m definently curious as to what will happen once Nolan’s gig is up.

Wayne’s long hair here may suggest that he’s out being Batman for quite some time like he did a break after all that ruckus TDK.
Anyway… can’t wait for this shiz to come out next year!

I wonder if Nolan is up to something. In the comic book Bane breaks Bruce Wayne’s back and someone (I can’t remember who) stands in as Batman. Does JGL become the new Batman when Christian Bale walks away from the Batman movies? Or…better yet, does JGL become Nightwing? This would jumpstart a new superhero trilogy for D.C. comics (which desperately needs credible superheroes). JGL is a favorite of Nolan’s and a rising star. It wouldn’t make sense to have him in the movie to play a minor role, especially when Batman already has his inside man, Gordon (Gary Oldman). Anyone…anyone?

Im going out on a limb here in saying that we’ll see joker in this next film as well…… dun dun DAAAA – Obviously it wont be a large part in honor of HEATH LEDGERS AMAZING performance in TDK. But im betting well see the joker in the shadows somewhere (maybe even with heaths voice???).

Why didnt I think of this sooner? Well ok i didnt know how JGL fit into this as there were a lack of photos but now I think I have a good theory.
In the 1st trailer we saw Gordon in a hospital bed. Well Batman needs someone on the inside to help him while Gordon recovers. Maybe JGL is simply a cop who wants to work with Batman to save Gotham by taking Gordon’s place in the relationship.

But it would be cool if Nightwing were in the film or at least a set up to a spin off for Nightwing.
