Last week’s installment of The Arcade was a bit light on new releases, but this week makes up for it with Darksiders II, Sleeping Dogs and New Super Mario Bros. 2 among others. Darksiders II is a follow-up to the 2010 original action-adventure RPG from Vigil Games and THQ that lets players control the horseman Death rather than his brother, War. Sleeping Dogs, an open world crime drama, centers on an undercover operation to infiltrate the Triads. The phenomenal voice cast includes Tom Wilkinson, Lucy Liu, Emma Stone and Kelly Hu. The family-friendly New Super Mario Bros. 2 is also coming out this week for the Nintendo 3DS. Hit the jump for trailers and release dates for these titles and more!
Let’s kick things off with a look at the upcoming action-adventure RPG, Darksiders II after a quick synopsis:
Awakened by the End of Days, Death, the most feared of the legendary Four Horsemen embarks on a quest to undo Armageddon. Along the way, the Horseman will discover that there are far worse things than an earthly Apocalypse, and that an ancient conflict threatens all of Creation. Become the terrifying force which everything fears but nothing can escape. Death Lives in Darksiders II.

Moving on to Sleeping Dogs, the highlight of this game for me is the top notch voice cast. Once part of the True Crime series with the title True Crime: Hong Kong, the game was rescued from Activision’s vaults by Square Enix, who published it under its current title. Take a look at the full cast of voice actors at Sleeping Dogs’ website and then check out the dramatic trailer below, which follows after the game’s synopsis:
Welcome to Hong Kong, a vibrant neon city teaming with life, whose exotic locations and busy streets hide one of the most powerful and dangerous criminal organizations in the world: the Triads. You play the role of Wei Shen, an undercover cop trying to take down the Triads from the inside out. You’ll have to prove yourself worthy as you fight your way up the organization, taking part in brutal criminal activities without blowing your cover. Torn between your loyalty to the badge and a criminal code of honor, you will risk everything as the lines between truth, loyalty and justice become permanently blurred.

Now, let’s lighten it up a bit with New Super Mario Bros. 2! This time around, everyone’s favorite plumbers sport new powers, new enemies and lots, lots more gold. And apparently that’s all Mario cares about this time around, regardless of the fact that Bowser has Peach-napped the Princess yet again:
Bowser has once again kidnapped Princess Peach, but this time, Mario has another objective. The Mushroom Kingdom is bursting with more gold coins than before. Each level is littered with gold as coins rain down from overhead pipes, trails of coins are left behind special gold enemies and gold pipes transport Mario into coin-filled caverns. It’s up to players to collect as many coins as possible throughout their adventure.
