Today is June 23, 2016 and it’s another Collider Jedi Council hosted by Kristian Harloff, with Mark Ellis, John Campea and Tiffany Smith!
Jedi Council is packed with a ton of news today with some especially HUGE news coming from the pages of Entertainment Weekly! Not only were there a bunch of new photos released for Rogue One but all the character names and relationships were revealed including the confirmation that yes, Darth Vader will return to Star Wars; and will be voiced by none other than James Earl Jones!
Forest Whitaker’s Role in Rogue One Revealed
And with that report out of the way, the council then breaks down all the rest of the news in the Star Wars Universe including the reveal of Forest Whitaker’s role in Rogue One which ties directly to the Clone Wars series in which his character was introduced, officially tying the live action movies to the animated series!
Ben Mendelsohn on Keeping his Rogue One Role a Secret
Then it’s on to a report about the villainous Ben Mendelsohn who talked about the secret he had to keep from everyone who asked about the role he was playing in the Star Wars story. Of course, it’s not easy when you are a fan and want to tell the world! He also shared a fond childhood memory that involved Star Wars bubble gum trading cards.
Bob Iger on Lucasfilm and Rogue One
THR had a very interesting interview with Disney CEO Bob Iger, with a very candid Iger discussing everything from competition with Comcast to his political aspirations after he steps down as CEO in 2018. And of course, about running Disney with Lucasfilm’s mega brands Star Wars and Indiana Jones. He talked about what Kathleen Kennedy does and how her contributions add to Disney’s successes. Iger also commented on whether Star Wars fans should be concerned about the Rogue One reshoots, saying he’s seen the movie and it’s going to be good.
Here now is the segment called What’s the Deal with Canon – a discussion on everything in the world of canon that isn’t one of the movies be it Episodes or Star Wars’ Stories. “Canon” here include the tv shows, books, comics and video games.
