Columbia Pictures has made it their business to keep David Koepp busy. After writing and directing the really-not-that-bad "Ghost Town" last year, he's signed on to direct and co-write "Billionaire's Vinegar" and "Article II". "Billionaire's Vinegar" (which sounds like a fun drinking game or a horrific sex act) is based on the book "The Billionaire's Vinegar: The Mystery of the World's Most Expensive Bottle of Wine," which is about a scandal that erupted when an auctioned cache of wine purported to have been culled from the stocks of Thomas Jefferson were deemed fakes by some. Assuming you were even going to drink the wine, this is just one thing I don't understand. So you paid a lot of money for really old fermented grapes. Isn't that the rip-off right there? What's the complaint: "I can only enjoy wine that has been made by slaves!" Best of luck with that film, Mr. Koepp. Koepp's other venture sounds more promising. "Article II" which about two friends who become bitter rivals for the presidential election, which is won by computer fraud. Those two friends were Al Gore and George W. Bush. I'm just kidding. And I'm sure there will be no reference to the 2000 election. Koepp's next work will be his co-writing credit on "Angels & Demons" but I won't hold that against him. I'll hold it against Akiva Goldsman who is the worst.
