It's crazy that the simple image of apes riding horses is one of the reasons I'm excited for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, but here we are.  We're in the midst of the first wave of blockbusters, and Apes is sneaking under the radar even though everything we've seen thus far looks great.  20th Century Fox has released a new poster for the film featuring Caesar (Andy Serkis) leading the charge as the world crumbles behind them.  This is the most action-oriented poster Fox has released thus far, and although I'm excited to see those aspects of the movie, I'm far more interested in the burgeoning ape civilization since it will put more of an emphasis on the performances and the technological advancements WETA has made since Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Hit the jump to check out the new Dawn of the Planet of the Apes poster.  The film opens in 3D on July 11th, and also stars Jason Clarke, Keri RussellGary Oldman, Toby KebbellKodi Smit-McPheeKirk AcevedoEnrique Murciano, and Judy Greer.

Here’s the official synopsis for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes:

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
