With director Matt Reeves’ Dawn of the Planet of the Apes opening July 11th, 20th Century Fox is letting us premiere a very cool new poster by artist Janee Meadows. Filled with the characters and scenes from the film, the poster is very Mondo-esque and it’s the type of artwork I’d hang on my wall.
Also, like I said the other day in my Dawn mini-review, I’m beyond impressed by what Reeves managed to accomplish in a huge budget studio film. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes isn’t some empty spectacle designed to sell toys and popcorn; it’s a film about family and the choices you make when there is no easy decision. It’s loaded with the kinds of things you almost never see in a summer movie. Dawn is also the rare film that tells a complete story but also opens the door for another sequel. As I said, Reeves has hit a massive home-run with this film and I truly hope audiences and critics embrace this special movie. Hit the jump to check out our exclusive Dawn of the Planet of the Apes poster. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, Gary Oldman, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Toby Kebbel, Kirk Acevedo, Enrique Murciano, and Judy Greer.
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
