20th Century Fox has moved up the release date of the Matt Reeves-directed sequel Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, as the film will now open on July 11, 2014 instead of July 18th.  The July 11th date is currently home to Fast & Furious 7, but the sad passing of star Paul Walker in the midst of production has put the future of the project in a state of limbo for the time being.  With filming on an indefinite hiatus, Universal is considering a number of options regarding how best to move forward, but it’s becoming increasingly clear that FF7 is not likely to make its intended release date—it was always a tight turnaround anyway.

Universal has not officially announced a release date change for Fast & Furious 7 just yet, but the shifting of the Apes release date suggests that Fox seems to think that will happen sooner or later.  The follow-up stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, and Keri Russell and takes place 15 years after the events of the first film.
