20th Century Fox has released new behind-the-scenes images from their upcoming 2014 tentpoles Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and X-Men: Days of Future Past.  The Apes image is just Andy Serkis (who plays Caesar) doing his motion-capture thing.  The real magic will come with the side-by-side comparisons of how his performance aligns with the finished visual effects.  It's exciting to think that with the advancements in technology, this should look even better than Rise of the Planet of the Apes.  As for X-Men, I no longer care about time-travel or sentinels after looking at this photo. I just want a Magneto/Wolverine 70s buddy-cop TV series.

Hit the jump to check out the images.  X-Men: Days of Future Past opens in 3D on May 23rd and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes opens in 3D on July 18th.

Here's the official synopsis for X-Men: Days of Future Past:

The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The beloved characters from the original “X-Men” film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from “X-Men: First Class,” in an epic battle that must change the past – to save our future.

Here’s the official synopsis for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes:

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier.  They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
