Here’s the official synopsis for Daydream Nation:

At seventeen things are not always as they seem.  Anchor Bay Entertainment releases a defiantly different look at teenage life. Daydream Nation, starring Kat Dennings and Josh Lucas, is, much like the music that inspired it, an alternative gem. A hit at the Toronto International Film Festival, Daydream Nation arrives at Village East Cinemas in NYC and Laemmele Sunset in LA on May 6th. It will be available to audiences nationwide on Blu-ray™ and DVD on May 17th.

Seventeen-year-old Caroline Wexler (Dennings, Thor, Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist,) is facing a teenager’s nightmare: her widowed father has moved them from the big city to a tiny town in the middle of nowhere.  When Caroline realizes she has nothing in common with the burnout losers in her new school she pursues the one person with who excites her interest – her handsome young teacher, Mr. Anderson (Lucas, Sweet Home Alabama).  A bizarre love triangle ensues between Caroline, Mr. Anderson, and a sweet, but troubled classmate (Reece Thompson, Dream Catcher).  Featuring a hit indie soundtrack in this mash-up of the bizarre and the beautiful, Daydream Nation is a coming-of-age story for the 21st century.

Written and directed by Michael Goldbach, Daydream Nation is filled with wry and wicked observations about teen angst and small town ennui, with plenty of unexpected twists and turns that will have you guessing how it will end and what it all means.

Kat Dennings is amazingly gorgeous. This sensual young woman is indescribably beautiful.

I like her too, but her voice is annoying…

That one kid kinda sounded like Tommy Wiseau from The Room when he was shouting “how can you do this to me!”

Everyone betray him he fed up wit dis world!

  • Corin

I feel sad that they compared the film to Sonic Youth.

Kat Dennings is cute as usual, but who knows if this movie will look good the trailer didn’t really impress me.

It got good reviews at TIFF, but that could also be a bias since it’s a Canadian film. right?

so everyone loves Kat Dennings. She’s apparently chill, and real. And beautiful. BUuuuut… her voice is monotonous. Even in that dramatic scene in the end when she’s yelling.
