The Deadpool movie has had its lead for quite a while now, but with that March start date coming up, director Tim Miller has to get moving on casting, fast. He just locked Gina Carano to star alongside Ryan Reynolds as Angel Dust, a character who’s a member of the underground mutant group called the Morlocks in the comics, and now it looks as though Miller has at least four additional key roles to fill as well.

CBM found a Deadpool casting call under the title WHAM! on Casting 24/7. The post has seven parts in it - Ridge, Lindsay, Simon, Shirlie, Kathy, Keren and Albert. CBM suggests that these are all character codenames and predicts that Simon is really Weasel, Wade’s sidekick, Shirlie is Blind Al, an older woman who lives with Wade, and that Keren is really Angel Dust, the role that just went to Carano.

The outlet pegs Albert as a henchman so throws out names like Garrison Kane, Sluggo and Wyre as possibilities, and also suggests that Lindsay could be the female lead, and perhaps the part Morena Baccarin, Taylor Schilling, Crystal Reed, Rebecca Rittenhouse, Sarah Greene and Jessica De Gouw are all vying for. As for Kathy, CBM doesn’t throw out any options, but they do suspect Ridge could be the villain Ajax. However, there has been some talk that Ridge could be Garrison Kane instead.

Jeff Sneider didn’t confirm that Ridge is indeed Ajax or Garrison Kane, but he did tweet that the role belongs to Ed Skrein and that T.J. Miller is indeed taking the role of Simon:

It’s also well worth noting that some of these roles come with “three sequel options” whereas others come with “three series options.” I’m not quite sure what the difference is, but I suspect the “sequel options” only pertain to Deadpool movies whereas the “series options” could span spinoffs and perhaps the X-Men movies as well.

[SIMON] Any ethnicity, late 20s to early 40s. Quirky, great sense of humor. Smart, funny, but more than a little bit slippery. Fast talker, always looking to make a buck. He looks out for himself first and foremost, but reveals loyalty at the end of the day. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SEQUEL OPTIONS.

 

[SHIRLIE] African American, late 60s to early 80s. Worldly, great sense of comedic timing, sarcastic, dry, funny. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SERIES OPTIONS.
