So, has the rating controversy over Deadpool finally been solved? A couple of days ago, Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter in the midst of production on the Marvel Comics adaptation to address the film’s rating. He reiterated that he’s always wanted Deadpool—a story that focuses on a violent antihero who uses profanity—to be rated-R and was currently “fighting” with the studio, since it would be a significant leap of faith for 20th Century Fox to release an R-rated Deadpool, alienating a large portion of the moviegoing audience that usually turns up for superhero movies.

Today, an “exclusive” video interview between Extra’s Mario Lopez and Reynolds on the Deadpool set surfaced over at JoBlo, during which the rating issue was solved once and for all:

Of course today’s “holiday” initially made this all a tiny bit unclear, and Reynolds preceded the video with some tweets hinting towards a PG-13 Deadpool. So was the PG-13 schtick part of the April Fools prank, attempting to trick audiences into believing the film might be PG-13 after all? Indeed. Given how the video ends, and since one of Fox’s marketing people tweeted the above video as well, it appears likely that this is the studio’s way of announcing that Deadpool will in fact be Rated-R, and Reynolds all but confirmed it with the below tweet. So folks, get ready for a genuine, R-rated Deadpool movie come next February.

Directed by Tim Miller, the film also stars Morena BaccarinT.J. MillerEd Skrein, and Gina Carano.
