Warner Bros. and Legendary have released 39 images from their upcoming movie Detective Pikachu. The upcoming film stars Justice Smith as a young man investigating the disappearance of his father who teams up with Detective Pikachu (Ryan Reynolds) to find his missing dad and help Pikachu close the case.

But as you’ll see from these images, Pikachu is far from the only Pokemon roaming around this world. You’ve got Charizard, Jigglypuff, Bulbasaur, and other first generation Pokemon, and I’m eager to see if people who grew up on the video game are going to come out to see the first live-action film. If Detective Pikachu is even halfway decent, I can easily see it being a massive hit. We would be wise not to underestimate how many people worldwide love Pokemon and want to see them done well in a major motion picture.

Check out the Detective Pikachu images below. The film opens May 10th and also stars Kathryn Newton, Suki Waterhouse, Chris Geere, Rita Ora, Ken Watanabe, and Bill Nighy.

Here’s the official synopsis for Detective Pikachu:

The story begins when ace detective Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry’s former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to work together, as Tim is the only human who can talk with Detective Pikachu, they join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City—a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world—they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe.
