The posters for Devil and the Joaquin Phoenix documentary I’m Still Here have landed online and they’re both pretty rad. I particularly like the poster for Devil and it makes me feel bad that the movie will probably get clobbered at the box office because M. Night Shyamalan’s name is attached to it even though he only came up with the story. The film was written by Brian Nelson and directed by John Erick Dowdle. Also, the trailer looks really good and I like the premise (five people are stuck in an elevator and one of them is the devil, but you don’t know who). But if I was at Universal, I would not be putting “From the Mind of M. Night Shyamalan” on any advertising whatsoever.
As for the poster for I’m Still Here, it’s equally effective and does a good job of reminding everyone that Joaquin Phoenix went crazy (or at least it looked like he did). Directed by Casey Affleck (who is Phoenix’s brother-in-law), the film is being pitched as a mockumentary and reportedly shows Phoenix “snorting cocaine, ordering call girls, having oral sex with a publicist, treating his assistants abusively and rapping badly.” I’m not sure what’s being mocked, but I guess we’ll find out when the movie plays at this year’s Venice Film Festival. Hit the jump to check out both posters.
