The first trailer, poster and images from Universal’s supernatural thriller Devil have been released.  The film stars Chris Messina, Geoffrey Arend, Logan Marshall-Green, Bojana Novakovic, Jenny O’Hara, Bokeem Woodbine, and Jacob Vargas  and it’s from a story by M. Night Shyamalan.  Of course when Universal decided to make the project, Shyamalan’s name meant more than it does now (The Last Airbender).

Saying that, the trailer for Devil makes it seem like a pretty cool thriller about a group of people trapped in an elevator with the Devil.   But I’m not going to be fooled again by anything with M. Night’s name attached to it.  From now on, I’m of the opinion everything he does is crap until he makes a good movie.  If this works, I’ll take him off my shit list.  But if it’s bad….

Hit the jump to check out the trailer, images and poster.  Devil gets released September 17, 2010.

this looks way better than the crapfest bender. he should have directed this. could have been his comeback.

This looks like a shitty horror flick. The only thing that interested me was Geoffrey Arend is a part of the film and he is fking hilarious. If he turned out to be the devil that would be pretty cool.

I never like these movies that are stuck in a single setting the entire film, like that movie Phone Booth; such a drag.

Was that before or after he watched Vincenzo Natali's short film Elevated. :p

If that M. Night guy is part of this, its bound to suck, a long line of horrible movies with airbender the cherry on top

My prayers have been answered! Shyamalan is not writing or directing. He only wrote the story. Great news. This movie has a chance.

Why'd they put Shyamalan's name on it? That was the kiss of death BEFORE The Last Fartsucker.

Judging from Shaymalan's past stories it's bound to be based on something else. I have a video cover from a 70's movie vividly in my head with a killer elavator but I can't remember the name. I do remember the Dutch movie “de Lift” and the US remake “Down” directed by Dick Maas. Not exactly the same judging from this trailer but still…

Btw, others have trekked in this area as well there's a book called I-Lucifer reminds me of this Devil trailer and the old show Joan of Arcadia except it was god hosting bodies not the devil, or my bad I think the devil showed up in that show around the last seasons or whatever…so this movie can work.
