James McTeigue The Raven image - Edgar Allan Poe.jpg

Peter over at /Film got the chance to interview "V for Vendetta" director James McTeigue, who revealed some interesting info on his next projects.  First up, a period thriller called "The Raven", inspired by the life and mysterious death of the great Edgar Allan Poe. The story puts the author in the hunt for a serial killer whose crimes mirror the events of Poe's gothic stories.  More on "The Raven" and what else McTeigue is up to after the jump.

In describing his take on the Poe classic, McTeigue said "It's like the poem, The Raven, itself, crossed with 'Se7en'. It should be pretty cool.  The script is really good and everyone responds to it really well.  I'm in the middle of casting."

McTeigue, who got his start working along the Wachowski Brothers on a little film called "The Matrix", debuted his latest film - "Ninja Assassin" - at this year's Comic-Con.  The film, which I can only assume is about a ninja assassin, will hit theatres on November 25th.

Before the writer's strike the director also had an adaptation of the novel "Altered Carbon" in development.  A book which, as fate would have it, I received as a birthday gift just this year.   For the full story on "Altered Carbon" and the "The Raven" head over to /Film here.
