Fox and MAX PAYNE Director John Moore Set Sights on ICE ROAD TRUCKERS 3D

One of the many perks of 3D technology is being able to truly convey the experience of grizzled semi-truck drivers as they bravely cover 350 miles of ice-covered terrain. While the validity of the previous statement is up for debate, the fact that 20^th Century Fox and director John Moore (Max Payne) are currently thinking along similar lines is not. Today, Deadline is reporting that the man who helmed a less than impressive video game adaptation and the studio who brought the world X-Men Origins: Wolverine (I’m still waiting to wake up and realize it was all a bad dream…or that the otherwise great Hugh Jackman was actually dead the whole time) are in talks to create a 3D film based on The History Channel’s highly successful, albeit not completely historic, program Ice Road Truckers.

If the thought of heavily bearded men (yes, I’m just guessing they will have beards) jumping out at you from a giant screen seems exciting, hit the jump to find out more about the project.

In the report, Moore claims that the ideas he is currently tossing around for the potential film make it “very much a tough guy movie…here’s a bunch of characters who tackle problems by getting in there and getting things done. We’ll turn it into a mission movie that harkens back to Towering Inferno, Jaws, or The Guns of Navarone.” Not much of a tough guy myself, I prefer to think of Jaws as being more about a person dedicating their life to the pursuit of one, seemingly impossible, challenge which they eventually overcome by blowing it to bits via an exploding air tank. Nevertheless, everyone is entitled to their own interpretation.

While no deal is in place yet, both Moore (whose film Northern Lights fell through when Taylor Lautner dropped out) and Fox (who normally get excited about the prospect of making money) seem quite enthusiastic about its potential in the 3D format.
