Summit Entertainment has released a new featurette for director Neil Burger’s (Limitless) adaptation of the Veronica Roth novel Divergent, and it’s a nice introduction to the world of the film for those unfamiliar with the source material. The futuristic thriller takes place in a society where people are divided into factions based on their personalities. Tris (Shailene Woodley) is a young girl who doesn’t fit into any of the pre-assigned groups and faces grave consequences due to her status as a “Divergent.” As a fan of the book, I’m really hoping that the film is good. Burger assembled a really nice cast led by Woodley and Kate Winslet, so that’s certainly a swell start, and his aesthetic choices promise something decidedly different than the washed-out look of The Hunger Games.
Hit the jump to watch the featurette, which offers book fans plenty of peeks at the film’s impressive sets. The film also stars Theo James, Miles Teller, Jai Courtney, Ashley Judd, Tony Goldwyn, Ray Stevenson, Zoe Kravitz, Maggie Q, Mekhi Phifer, Ansel Elgort, Christian Madsen, Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Ben Lamb, and Amy Newbold. Divergent opens in traditional theaters and IMAX on March 21, 2014.
