Dennis Christopher, star of the terrific 1979 film Breaking Away, has joined the cast of Quentin Tarantino’s southern-style spaghetti western Django Unchained.  Jamie Foxx plays Django, a slave-turned-bounty hunter who goes to rescue his wife from a sadistic slave-master Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio).  According to Variety, Christopher will play Candie’s lawyer, Leo Moguy.  Django Unchained will be Christopher’s first film role in six years although he’s kept busy with TV guest spots on shows such as Criminal Minds and CSI.  If you’re making a return to the big screen, you can’t do much better than a Tarantino film.

The film also stars Christopher’s Deadwood co-star Gerald McRaney, Christoph Waltz as a German bounty who assists Django, and Samuel L. Jackson as Candie’s house slave and right-hand man.  Django Unchained opens December 25, 2012.
