It looks like Quentin Tarantino may have lined up his replacement for Kevin Costner in Django Unchained. The Wrap reports that Kurt Russell is in talks to take over the role that Costner was forced to vacate due to schedule conflicts: the villainous Ace Woody. The character is in the business of training slaves to fight each other to the death for public amusement in Tarantino’s period pic. The film stars Jamie Foxx as a freed slave who sets out with a German bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) to rescue his wife from an evil plantation owner played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Russell previously bared his bad side for Tarantino in the director’s grindhouse flick Death Proof. While it was disappointing to see Costner go, Russell is great casting in the part and I’m exciting to see him go all evil again. Django Unchained opens December 25th, 2012.

i absolutely love kurt russell, especially in john carpenter´s movies, but i would love to see kevin costner playing badass, he´s a great actor ( just watch tin cup or mr.brooks) and he looks like a very nice and honest guy, which makes evil people more interesting, just remember henry fonda in once upon a time in the west, i believe costner has a true evil motherf…er inisde nobody has ever seen yet, and we already know kurt has it.
I was just thinking that Russell should get his ass back on screen, then bam! Love it!

What could possibly be wrong with Jamie Foxx? The dude is a great actor! I like him way better than Will Smith in this role, I’ll tell you that much. Jamie Foxx is going to do great in the role as far as i’m concerned.
I had really hoped that Idris Elba would take the role when he was being considered. Didn’t work out and I really don’t care for Foxx in the role but he’ll probably be better than Will Smith as Django. Maybe Foxx will surprise me. Tarantino knows how to get great performances from actors that don’t seem to fit their roles. I’m looking forward to seeing Russell as Ace if he really signs on.
