Marvel has released a snippet of the Doctor Stranger sneak peek that will be included on the upcoming Captain America: Civil War Blu-ray. In this special feature, we get a few brief notes on the involvement of Karl Mordo (Chiwetel Ejifor), The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton), and the villains led by Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen). There’s a little bit of footage in the sneak preview, but also a fair amount of concept art (which makes sense since the film is in the midst of post-production so plenty of the reality-bending effects are still being finished).

Am I the only one who’s finding it difficult to get excited for Doctor Strange? I like the Marvel movies, and I love this cast, and yet everything I’ve seen thus far fails to get me particularly enthused for this new entry in the MCU. I think part of the problem is that this will be a story where it’s up to a woman (The Ancient One), a black man (Mordo), and an Asian Man (Benedict Wong’s Wong) to help a white guy (Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange) save the world. I look at the power the supporting characters possess, and I don’t know exactly why they need Stephen Strange. I look at other Marvel superheroes, and I get where they’re coming from, but Strange is still a mystery. Hopefully when the marketing kicks into high gear they’ll focus on why Strange is a character we should care about beyond his magic powers.

Check out the Doctor Strange sneak peek below. The film opens November 4th, and also stars Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg, Benjamin Bratt, and Scott Adkins.

Here’s the official synopsis for Doctor Strange:

From Marvel comes “Doctor Strange,” the story of world-famous neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange whose life changes forever after a horrific car accident robs him of the use of his hands. When traditional medicine fails him, he is forced to look for healing, and hope, in an unlikely place—a mysterious enclave known as Kamar-Taj. He quickly learns that this is not just a center for healing but also the front line of a battle against unseen dark forces bent on destroying our reality. Before long Strange—armed with newly acquired magical powers—is forced to choose whether to return to his life of fortune and status or leave it all behind to defend the world as the most powerful sorcerer in existence. Join Strange on his dangerous, mystifying, and totally mind-bending journey when Marvel’s “Doctor Strange” opens in U.S. theaters on November 4, 2016.
