KILL LIST Director Ben Wheatley to Helm First Two Episodes of the New Season of DOCTOR WHO

Doctor Who fans could be in for more than one shock when the new season begins.  They’ll already have to adjust to the new Doctor played by Peter Capaldi, and now there’s an unusual choice behind the camera for the first two episodes.  According to Screen Daily, Ben Wheatley, the director behind the gruesomely violent Kill List and the darkly hilarious Sightseers, will helm the first two episodes of the new season.  I’ve only watched a couple episodes, but they didn’t strike me as something that would invite a scene where the Doctor would graphically break apart someone’s face with a sonic screwdriver.  For the Doctor Who fans, is this a plausible scenario?

The new season of Doctor Who will begin filming in December for a fall 2014 premiere.  Wheatley is also attached to the HBO drama series Silk Road, an adaptation of J.G. Ballard’s High Rise, and his first U.S. feature, Freakshift, which is “about a band of misfits who hunt down and kill nocturnal monsters.”

Matt, please please please don’t bring your pretty hate machine to the world of Doctor Who.

Do you mean PETTY hate machine?

The thought did cross my mind but decided there was already enough negativity going on so I left it alone but it’s nice to see others are thinking along the same lines.

Hey Matt, if you don’t know anything about the topic maybe pass it off to someone else who does. If I were in your shoes I wouldn’t want to piss everyone off anymore than you already do on a consistent basis with your attempts at being witty but coming off like a ignorant jerk a majority of the time. It’s not great for Collider and can’t be great for your career future.

This is great news- Ben Wheatley is a true auteur, and Peter Capaldi breaks the trend of younger doctors.
