Doctor Who is due to return on August 23rd, so I guess I better get ready to hear about how crazy I am for not watching the show all over again.  BBC dropped that first full-length series 8 trailer just about a month ago, but with the premiere date fast approaching, they just threw in another 30-second spot for the first episode, “Deep Breath,” as well.

Minus the fact that Peter Capaldi (In the Loop) is our new Doctor, I’ve got just about no clue what’s going on in this teaser, so I won’t dare try to describe it, but it’s got a dinosaur, a guy who’s missing about a quarter of his face and shots of the Tardis – I know the Tardis!  Hit the jump to check out the new Doctor Who series 8 trailer for yourself.  The show returns in the UK and the US on Saturday, August 23rd.

Here’s the official synopsis for the first episode of series 8:

“When the Doctor arrives in Victorian London he finds a dinosaur rampant in the Thames and a spate of deadly spontaneous combustions. Who is the new Doctor and will Clara’s friendship survive as they embark on a terrifying mission into the heart of an alien conspiracy? The Doctor has changed. It’s time you knew him.”

    Dinosaurs! On Fire!

    • Doctor Huh?

I literally heard his voice when reading. Well played.

    Eccleston is my only doctor

I’ve tried getting an appointment with him for my sore throat but his agent always hangs up. How do you get him to see you?

While a decent Doctor I can’t have the same emotional investment in him as I did for David and Matt. He was there and gone in a blink. Was nice seeing him in Day of the Doctor thru clips. Would of liked him to show up with Matt, David, and John for the entire episode.

        Oh and….EXTERMINATE!

Me too. Perfect characterization by a reliably brilliant actor.

I mean no offence but why is thus being reported by a person who does not even watch the show and whose only means of filling an article is to make sarcastic comments about the trailer?

That seems to be a puzzling recent trend on collider: assign the story to someone who hasn’t seen the show or movie.

Hell, if you haven’t seen it, at least just report the news. No need to tell the world you haven’t seen it.
