‘Don’t Breathe’ Trailer Makes Stephen Lang Even Scarier Than You Originally Thought

The first trailer for Fede Alvarez’s thriller Don’t Breathe has dropped and this sucker looks mighty creepy. It’s not surprising that the film, which wowed audiences at South by Southwest earlier this year, portrays a walk through a house of horrors, as that is similarly what Alvarez unleashed with his undervalued, actually quite good remake of The Evil Dead.  This time, instead of a cabin in the woods rife with demons, zombies, and evil spirits of a particularly malevolent sort, we have a blind Stephen Lang. Now that might seem like a trade down from trees that can rape and watching your friends get turned into bloodied-up lunatics by the legions of hell, but Lang proves to be awfully menacing, and I don’t even want to know what that little pool of oil is used for to be completely frank.

The film partners Alvarez once again with Jane Levy, who was the lead in The Evil Dead, but also adds in Dylan Minnette, who had a surprisingly charming breakthrough performance last year in the not-too-shabby Goosebumps adaptation. Daniel Zovatto, who starred in the best horror movie of last year, It Follows, is here playing the bad boy that Levy’s character is all gooey-eyed over, but things don’t look like they end up so hot for him, as you will see below. The film will be released on August 26th, quite a few days before the spooky Halloween season, but who says you can’t spend a Summer afternoon shaking with fear? No one, that’s who.

Here’s the first trailer for Don’t Breathe:

Here’s the official synopsis for Alvarez’s latest:

In the terrifying thriller DON’T BREATHE, a group of friends break into the house of a wealthy blind man, thinking they’ll get away with the perfect heist.  They’re wrong.

DON’T BREATHE stars Jane Levy (EVIL DEAD), Dylan Minnette (GOOSEBUMPS), Daniel Zovatto (IT FOLLOWS), and Stephen Lang (AVATAR).
