Alexander Payne has the talent and the pedigree to pull in big name talent to his films.  A couple days ago, we reported that Reese Witherspoon was reuniting with her Election director to star opposite Matt Damon in Payne’s new film Downsizing, a social satire about a guy who realizes he would have a better life he were to shrink himself.

It’s a Payne’s first movie with a sci-fi bent (assuming the guy is able to pull of the shrinking), and now it has brought on a few more talented actors for this oddball story.  According to Deadline, Alec Baldwin, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jason Sudeikis have all joined the cast, but their roles are currently unspecified.  Hit the jump for more.

Deadline also reports that Annapurna Pictures has signed on to finance and produce the movie, which was co-written by Payne and Jim Taylor (Sideways).  Production is set to begin in 2016 after Damon finishes The Martian and the new Bourne movie with an eye towards a Christmas 2017 release.  That’s a painfully long time to wait for a new Alexander Payne movie since I’ve enjoyed all of his films, but I suppose a four-year wait is better than his seven-year absence between Sideways and The Descendants.

As for the new cast members, Baldwin is currently working with Will Smith on an untitled NFL concussion drama; Harris will be next be seen hosting the Oscars; and Sudeikis co-stars in Sleeping with Other People, which will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival later this month.
