It appears that James Bond might soon be getting the 3D treatment.  A Taiwanese Blu-ray re-issue of Dr. No, the first Bond film, apparently includes a 3D conversion of the film, and the folks over at Bleeding Cool have discovered that Moviefone currently has a listing for an IMAX 3D release of Dr. No.  Though no official confirmation has been made, it certainly appears that plans could be in place for a re-release of the classic Bond film.  The notion wouldn’t exactly be shocking, as the series is currently coming off the wild success of last year’s Skyfall and its 50th anniversary celebration.

Skyfall’s current worldwide gross stands at $1.1 billion, so it’s clear that the Bond character is far from being played out.  I’m not sure if Dr. No is the best classic Bond film to get the theatrical re-release treatment (I’d go with Goldfinger), but again, nothing has been officially confirmed or announced so this could very well just be one big mix up.  Nevertheless, we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information.  In the meantime, hit the jump to watch the trailer for Dr. No.

  1. Since the original Wizard of OZ is getting a 3D conversion, Jurassic Park in 3D comes out in 2 months, this should be the new normal. As long as they do it right, like Titanic, and really spend the time and effort on it to get it right it’ll be a nice piece of fun. if they rush it through it will just be another setback for the format. I dig 3D when it’s done right, hate it when it’s lazy.
