Dracula Untold is all about Vlad’s (Luke Evans) choice to become a vampire so that he can defend his people against Mehmet’s (Dominic Cooper) threat, but one of the main reasons he makes that decision at all is due to his undying love for his wife, Mirena (Sarah Gadon).

Clearly Dracula Untold will be loaded with fangs, bats and epic battles, but it’s also a movie rooted in romance and family.  Hit the jump to find out more about Mirena’s effect on Vlad in a brand new Dracula Untold featurette and if you’d like even more information on the character, click here to check out my interview with Gadon from our set visit.  Dracula Untold hits theaters in 2D and IMAX on October 17th and also stars Charles Dance, Noah Huntley and Art Parkinson.

Here’s the synopsis for Dracula Untold:

Almost an entire century after the world’s first cinematic introduction to Dracula placed audiences under his haunting spell, the studio that pioneered the genre reawakens one of legend’s most captivating figures in an action-adventure that heralds a pulse-pounding rebirth of the age of monsters.

Luke Evans (Fast & Furious 6The Hobbit series) transforms from the cursed man history knows as Vlad the Impaler to an all-powerful creature of the night in Universal Pictures’ Dracula Untold, the origin story of the alluring immortal we have come to fear as the sun sets: Dracula.
