As Steve is taking part in the Masters of the Web panel this year at Comic-Con which is being hosted by Dredd star Karl Urban, we’ve been provided with an exclusive red-band clip to share with our readers.  I saw the film last night and let me first warn you: this film is absolutely brutal.  Director Pete Travis‘ Dredd is 100% a hard R with incredibly graphic violence throughout the film’s entire runtime (as taste of what’s to come is on display in this clip).  This movie couldn’t possibly be more different from Sylvester Stallone’s iteration of the character, and I think fans of the comics and/or Judge Dredd character will really be happy with this pic.  That said, be prepared for a lot of violence.  You can read Matt’s review here.

Though most of you wren’t lucky enough to catch the film at Comic-Con, fans have the chance to win a trip to London to screen the film there.  More details can be found at JudgementIsComing.com.  Hit the jump to check out the clip.  The film also stars Olivia Thirlby and Lena HeadeyDredd opens in 3D on September 21st.

Here’s the official synopsis for Dredd:

Dredd takes place on a fictional Earth created as a result of the Atomic Wars. Survivors of this period are living in Mega-Cities, which protects its citizens from the Cursed Earth, a radioactive desert environment populated by mutants. The main story takes place in Mega-City One, where the police who are now called judges have the power to use police brutality to some extent to fight extreme murders. One man, Judge Dredd (Karl Urban), a senior law enforcement officer, teams up with a cadet called Judge Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) to track down a terrorist organization lead by Ma-Ma (Lena Headey), who is responsible for selling a reality-altering drug called Slo-Mo.

  1. Damn! That looks pretty sweet! I thought this movie would end up a disaster. Im convinced that it will be pretty damn entertaining now!

  2. Hmmm. I loves me some gun play, but that makes me feel like I’m watching someone else’s creepy fetish porn.

  3. What are you all talking about? That looked like shit! What’s the point of showing gaping wounds if it’s just going to be ridiculous CGI blood?

    • Well, if you’ve ever seen timeslice photography of blood/water/milk etc.. it looks just like that! So cg blood or fake movie blood, whats the difference? And if they filmed fake movie blood at that framerate you would think it was cgi.

    • From the reviews that are out, the amount of slo mo is few and far between. Its an effect of the drug they are smoking so I can’t see them smoking, then getting shot to hell more than a few times in the movie w/o it feeling overdone.
