A couple new images from the forthcoming Dredd have popped up online. We’ve seen very little from the Pete Travis-directed reboot thus far, but it’s certainly clear from these images that Dredd is a world filled with large helmets and disgruntled frowns. I have absolutely no idea what kind of film Travis has crafted, but I’m hoping we’re in for a good time. Comic creator John Wagner recently talked a bit about the film and said we’re going to get a “more rounded, more human” Dredd who’s “capable of introspection [and] questioning his own beliefs.” I’m guessing this means no Rob Schneider.

Hit the jump to check out the images. The film stars Karl Urban, Olivia Thirlby (Juno) and Lena Headey (Game of Thrones). Dredd opens in 3D September 21st.

Here’s the official synopsis for Dredd:

DREDD takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilization on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot – if necessary. The endlessly inventive mind of writer Alex Garland and the frenetic vision of director Peter Travis bring DREDD to life as a futuristic neo-noir action film that returns the celebrated character to the dark, visceral incarnation from John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra’s revered comic strip.

  1. I’m loving the 3rd photo down. That is _proper_ blood spatter from a headshot. Beginning to look more like Robocop every day! (Which is a good thing)

  2. Notice that Dredd has spray painted his shoulder pads which have that yellow emblem. For camouflage obviously. This gives you a good insight into where the judge service is situated, (post golden age) and where Dredd comes from. (brutal expediency and efficiency)

  3. Trailer dammit!!!

Shocking, this film has zero marketing, absolutely stupid move by the distributors! They at least need to get a website with virals getting around the net to create awareness of the film and get a kick ass teaser out there to show Dredd being a bad ass coz i really don’t think these pics are doing it justice.

    Trailer now!!!!!
