Opening this Friday is “Drillbit Taylor,” the new Owen Wilson movie. This is the filmwhere he plays a bodyguard to a few high school kids that are constantly getting beaten up by the local bullies at school.

I got to see the movie tonight and can say while it’s not a bad movie by any means, it’s also nothing great either. It’s a cute film that definitely has a few laughs, but it’s also directed by Steve Brill… so I cannot recommend it.

And if you’ve wondering why I’ve got a problem with Steve Brill, it’s because he’s the guy the Weinstein Company brought in to re-cut the movie “Fanboys.” Yes, he’s the guy in charge of taking out the cancer storyline.

While I’d normally play nice and wait to see what he’s done, I recently found out something so shocking that I’ve absolutely gone of the rails and I want this guy removed from anything to do with “Fanboys.”

What did I find out?

When he came in to start working on the movie, he didn’t know who some of the major “Star Wars” characters were. Yes, the Weinstein’s brought in someone who didn’t give a shit about “Star Wars” and has no idea what the movie means to a great number of people – myself included. So if you read online any quotes from Steve saying how much he loved “Star Wars” or any bullshit like that, yeah…maybe he did like the movie at some point in his life, but he never LOVED the movie.

So while I’d normally like to recommend “Drillbit Taylor” to help support Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen (he co-wrote it), my hatred for Steve Brill cannot let me do so.

And to Paramount, I know this isn’t your fault. This is definitely a case of collateral damage. Sorry.

But…while I have problems with Steve Brill and I’ve made my feelings known, to be fair, here’s the synopsis and the 9 movie clips I was provided.

Ryan, Wade and Emmit attend their first day at high school and they're pumped... until they meet up with Filkins, a school bully who comes off like a little Hannibal Lecter. Before they become completely engulfed in Filkins' reign of terror, they seek out some protection by placing an ad in Soldier of Fortune magazine. Their best response - and the cheapest - comes from Drillbit Taylor, a down-on-his luck soldier of fortune who lives a homeless - he likes to say "home-free" - existence on the beach. He enrolls them in some physical and mental training.
