“Movies from an Alternate Universe”: What If Recent Films Had Been Made Decades Earlier?

Classic films are getting remade left and right, but what if it went the other way? What if our original films of recent years were thrown back to an earlier era? Who would star? Who would direct? What would the poster look like? Artist Peter Stults ran with that idea and came up with some wonderfully creative and thoughtful posters based on recent movies. I’m not sure if I see Leonard Nimoy as John McClane, but I can absolutely see James Dean starring in a 1950s version of Drive.

These are all fantastic posters. I’m so glad 5th Element made it in there.
i wonder who would have star in inception back then
Great idea and even greater work.
But in the retro version of the hangover, who would play Mr. Chow?
Mickey Rooney!
The posters are genius.
Mickey Rooney would play Chow. You think I’m joking? Have you seen Breakfast at Tiffany’s?
Just go to his site to see the Inception one.
Love these, especially the Hangover.Though I think Frank Sinatra should be in the Die Hard one, since his movie inspired the movie in the first place.
Good call on Sinatra in Die Hard! Maybe even Telly Savalas. Leonard Nimoy is funny, but a total miscast.
you guys should do a follow up with past movies made today i suggest marathon man with jesse eisenberg liam neeson and john hamm directed by tony gilroy
All but Drive sucked, sorry
Great concept, brilliant execution! So what movie would you want to see realised? I have to see 2001 by Fritz Lang!
Neat concept and nicely executed for the most part (Die Hard is the stand-out stinker). The scratches and fake fold-lines in every poster are a little cheap though – the past was once the brand-spanking new present. A vintage poster is usually a pristine, more recent reprint or a collector’s item in mint condition – at least the ones used for scanning and then digitizing. If you can’t make it look retro just through design and period details, adding wear and tear in photoshop isn’t going to do the trick.
I’d rather see these versions than the originals.
alas I was born too late.
