Thanks to Dwayne Johnson using Twitter, we’ve got our first look at Roadblock in director Jon Chu’s (Justin Bieber: Never Say Never) G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation. He posted the image this morning as the production just started filming. His tweet:
1st day of shooting. 110 degrees. Bring It.
While many of you weren’t on board with the first G.I. Joe movie, I thought it was a lot of fun and what I always thought a live-action Joe movie should feel like. Saying that, it looks like Paramount listened to the chorus, as almost the entire cast has been replaced with new actors. But when you land Johnson, Walter Goggins, and Bruce Willis, you won’t hear me complaining. Hit the jump for the full picture and cast list. G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation hits theaters June 29, 2012.
Here’s the cast list as far as we know it:
Dwayne Johnson (Roadblock), Adrianne Palicki (Lady Jaye), RZA (Blind Master), D.J. Cotrona (Flint), Joseph Mazzello (Mouse), Walton Goggins (Warden Nigel James) and Elodie Yung (Jinx) are confirmed, while Bruce Willis is in talks to play Joe himself. Channing Tatum (Duke), Ray Park (Snake Eyes), and Byung-hun Lee (Storm Shadow) will reprise their roles from the original.

dude looks like an action figure
Gotta admit, The Rock looks cool. I still think it would have been truer to the comics and 80s cartoon series if actor Terry Crews played Roadblock, but I’m willing to give The Rock a chance. Any word on who will play Cobra Commander? Still don’t like the name…The Revenge of Cobra sounds better.
I hope Dwayne Johnson does more action movies from now on and ceases doing children’s films. Everyone was ready to give up on him until he did The Other Guys, Faster and Fast Five. I hope he doesn’t end up like Eddie Murphy who has alienated his fanbase and has seemingly gone out of his way to make lousy children’s movies, with only the occasional adult film once in a while.
Digging the look except for the old-school camo(Gotten so used to the digital BDUs) but like how the armor look in the first film isn’t going away completely. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the crew, especially Snake Eyes.
I really can’t wait to see what Storm Shadow looks like. They need to make him look more like the 1980s cartoon version.

Now THIS picture looks more like the G.I.Joe I grew up obsessed with than that whole first movie did. I may actually check this out.
The Rock is huge, he looks awesome.
The cast seems okay especially The Rock and Bruce Willis being in it.
