Dwayne Johnson Returns to Action with FASTER

I’m happy to report that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is starring in an action movie again.  I really, really am.  I thought that we had lost the once promising new action star to kiddie flicks (The Tooth Fairy?!), but it seems that we are going to be treated to Johnson kicking some ass again on the big screen soon.  The actor is now in negotiations to star in the action drama “Faster” for director George Tillman Jr. (“Notorious”) and you can get all the details when you hit the jump.

Variety tells us that Johnson will be playing an ex-con who “is bent on avenging the death of his brother, who was murdered 10 years earlier when the two were double-crossed during a heist.”  The film was originally going to be directed by Phil Joanou (“Gridiron Gang”), but the director dropped out several months ago.  George Tillman Jr. will not take over as director and the film is set to being production in January.

I like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson a ton.  I think it’s impossible to not love the guy.  The guy has an amazing amount of charisma and as much as I want to hate on him for going the kid friendly route, I just can’t.  He just seems like too much of a nice guy.  It’s because of this that I’m interested in seeing him in a darker role.  I’m all for a Dwayne Johnson adult action movie and I’m even more for one where he plays a guy seeking revenge.  So hopefully this really will be his big return to the action genre.

Yeah, it’s about bloody time too. The Rock needs to face reality that he is well suited to the action and explosive genre. Just don’t do the mindless ones either. The story has to have that emotional and acting bravado that he needs to stretch out his growing repertoire…what little it is at the moment. LOL! :D

    Go Rock!!!
