Dwayne Johnson can do pretty much whatever he wants these days with no one to tell him otherwise, but he may be pushing it a bit when it comes to taunting Superman. Well Jim Croce warnings be damned because Johnson is already starting up the hype machine for his 2019 role of Black Adam in Warner Bros. and DC’s big screen adaptation of Shazam!
Not one to shy away from social media to post behind-the-scenes pics and video from his movies, Johnson shared a heavily filtered image of him ripped as hell and wearing a too-small Superman shirt. This could have passed for just another shot of Johnson during one of his pre/post-workout sessions if not for his various hashtags. Check it out below:

So “No capes.” That’s pretty self-explanatory. Black Adam originally appeared sans cape in the Fawcett Comics introductory issue, but later gained a cape in The New 52 reboot. Whether Johnson will have a cape – CG or otherwise – in 2019 remains to be seen. Next up is the confusing hashtag #BlackAdamIGKSDITD. I’ve got the first part figured out, of course, but have no clue what that acronym is supposed to be; feel free to leave your suggestions in the comments. #OneFineDay? I have three suggestions: Johnson either just watched the 1996 romantic comedy of the same name with Michelle Pfeiffer and George Clooney, is a fan of the Chiffons, or was just having a really good day. As for #TethInTheBloodstream, Teth-Adam is the actual name of Black Adam, much like Kal-El is the real name for Superman. Aliens love hyphens, apparently.
In non-superhero news, Johnson also confirmed the temporal setting for his new Disney adventure, Jungle Cruise. We previously reported that the film would use the 1951 classic African Queen as a source of inspiration, but it looks like Jungle Cruise will actually be set in the roaring 1920s, as confirmed by Johnson. Also confirmed, the studio will be looking to emulate the success of Johnny Depp and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. See what Johnson had to say about it below:
Pumped to kick off the writing for our Disney’s JUNGLE CRUISE. Great meeting w/ our writers Requa & Ficarra who last wrote and directed FOCUS w/ Will Smith and BAD SANTA w/ Billy Bob Thornton. Our goal is to push the envelope in a smart, edgy, epically fun way. Johnny Depp raised the bar with PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN.. now it’s our turn at bat to take an iconic Disney attraction and hopefully turn it into something dope and cool. I’ll keep y’all posted along the way. Here we go… #BigAdventureAwaits #ItsAPeriodMovie #DamnRightIWillStillBeHandsomeInThe1920s #JungleCruise A photo posted by therock (@therock) on
