Actor/musician Dwight Yoakam has been a fun and sometimes scene-stealing presence in films (he was one of the best parts of Panic Room), but unfortunately, Deadline is reporting that he has dropped out of Gore Verbinski's big-budget adaptation of The Lone Ranger.  The western, based on the classic radio- and TV-serial, stars Johnny Depp as the Native American Tonto and Armie Hammer as the eponymous masked hero.  Yoakam was set to play one of the film's villains, but has now left due to a scheduling conflict.  We should hear some casting news on his replacement in the very near future since filming is set to begin this month.

The film also stars Helena Bonham Carter, Ruth Wilson, James Frain, and Tom WilkinsonThe Lone Ranger opens May 31, 2013.  Hit the jump for casting news on Michael Bay's Pain and Gain.

Variety reports that Rob Corddry is in talks to join Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, and Ed Harris in Michael Bay's Pain and Gain.  The film is notable because even though Bay is directing, it's not an action movie that costs hundreds of millions of dollars.  The true story is based on a 1999 Miami New Times article about two bodybuilders who got caught up in an extortion ring and a kidnapping scheme that went terribly wrong.  Per Variety, "Corddry will play John Mese, a former competitive bodybuilder who now owns the gym where Wahlberg's character works as a personal trainer. His past as an accountant and notary makes him a valuable though unwilling member of Wahlberg's scheme."  I have trouble imagining a muscled-up Rob Corddry, and I don't know if that's how the character will look, but it would be interesting to see.

Corddry will be seen later this year in the comedies Seeking a Friend for the End of the World and Butter.  He'll also be in theaters on February 1, 2013 in the romantic-zombie film Warm Bodies.
