If you thought only one Steven Spielberg classic was coming to Blu-ray this year, you were sorely mistaken.  A digitally remastered version of Jaws will be released in the Blu-ray format this August (with bonus features galore), but Universal has just announced that Spielberg’s E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial will also be hitting Blu-ray for the first time this October.  The disc will boast a digitally remastered version of the 1982 theatrical movie (ie. not the version with digitally inserted walkie-talkies) along with an all-new interview with Spielberg, never-before-seen footage from the set, and more.  Hit the jump for details, including a full rundown of the bonus features and an announcement trailer.Spielberg had previously promised that the untouched 1982 version of E.T. would be included along with the “reworked” version when the film hit Blu-ray, but now it looks like that only vestiges of the Lucas-fied 20th Anniversary version will be two deleted scenes.  Huzzah!  I'm also thrilled about the multitude of bonus features included on the Blu-ray, with an all-new Spielberg interview looking back on the film and what promises to be a great look behind-the-scenes at the making of this classic piece of filmmaking.  An exact street-date is undetermined, but expect the disc in stores sometime this October.  The Blu-ray, presented in 7.1 surround sound, will include a DVD and digital copy of the film as well. Here’s the announcement trailer:
