A movie I really enjoyed at this year's Toronto Film Festival was "The Disappearance of Alice Creed". The film was written and directed by J Blakeson and it's his first time behind the camera. Since a lot of this film rides on you not knowing too much about it, all I'm going to tell you is...it's about two people kidnapping a third person and what happens before, during, and after the event. The movie stars Martin Compston and Eddie Marsan as the kidnapers and Gemma Arterton plays the victim.

Anyway, while at this year's Festival, I was able to interview the two stars - Martin Compston and Eddie Marsan. So after the jump you can see them talk about making the movie, explain how difficult it is to talk about the film without giving things away, they both talk about what they have coming up, and a lot more. It's a great interview so take a look:

Finally, here's a link to some movie clips and more info on the movie.

Eddie Marsan and Martin Compston part 1

  • I talk about how much I liked the movie
  • When they were reading the script, did they immediately want to get involved
  • Were they concerned about having most of the movie take place in one location
  • We talk about the opening 7 minutes of the film - how much time did it take to film the opening. Eddie talks about how the film was shot mostly in sequence
  • What was it like on set? Was there a lot of room for improv or changes
  • How long was the shoot and was it any easier since they were shooting in one location
  • How did they prepare for the movie

Eddie Marsan and Martin Compston part 2

  • What else are they working on - Eddie talks about Me and Orson Wells, Sherlock Holmes, Heartless. Martin talks about Soulboy
  • Eddie talks about working on William Monahan's debut film London Boulevard
  • Did Eddie ever think of himself as this tough gangster that he's been portraying on screen recently
  • How would they describe The Disappearance of Alice Creed without ruining the experience
  • Are either of them about to start filming anything
  • Eddie says he's about to start filming Moby Dick with Ethan Hawke and William Hurt
