Last night on “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien” (it’s so weird but also so great to write that), Eddie Murphy joked about the rumor from long ago that he was in talks to play The Riddler in the next “Batman” movie. Murphy stated the obvious about the rumor being not true, but was gracious in acknowledging how he liked Jim Carrey’s performance as the character in “Batman Forever” and that he would like to be in a “Batman” movie one day. Conan then inquired who Murphy would want to play from Batman’s gallery of rogues. Murphy seized on the character “Egghead” who was a villain created for the 1960s Adam West “Batman” TV series and portrayed by Vincent Price. While I shudder at the mention of every Eddie Murphy high-concept family film that comes down the line, I have to applaud the guy for having a good sense of humor about the whole thing.
