In 2004, there was Shaun of the Dead. In 2007, there was Hot Fuzz. Now, if Twitter is to be believed, there will soon be The World’s End. Writer/director Edgar Wright posted a picture on Twitter today titled only “Hard at work.” Next to him was writer/actor/super-spy-extraordinaire Simon Pegg, pondering the inevitability of The World’s End. Along with Nick Frost, the two have worked together on the above-mentioned films and have long-expressed the desire to complete the so-called “Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy,” due to the presence of bloody violence and Cornetto ice cream in each movie. (It’s also called the “Three Flavours Trilogy” as red strawberry is featured in Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz referenced a blue Classic flavor. The World’s End is said to showcase green mint chocolate chip.) While plot details are short at the moment, fans will want to hit the jump to check out the dynamic duo hard at work.
So why has it taken so long for Wright, Pegg and Frost to complete their trilogy? We thought it was possible to see an end back in 2009. It wasn’t until June of last year that Wright and Pegg were hoping to start on a new script and even later to state their plan to film this year.
Perhaps their increasingly busy schedule and increasingly famous stature is the only reason for the delay. Pegg is coming off of a turn in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and will next be seen in A Fantastic Fear of Everything before next year’s Star Trek sequel. Wright is aiming to direct Ant-Man in 2014, his first directorial effort since 2010’s Scott Pilgrim vs the World. 2014 is rumored to be the same year that The World’s End will be released. Let’s hope the below image is just the beginning of more from these two and The World’s End.

Awesome. One of my favorite film making teams around. I have yet to be disappointed by Edgar Wright, so he’s going into this 4/4 as far as I’m concerned. Cannot wait to see what they put together.
I’m so excited. I watched Hot Fuzz in theaters atleast 5 times. I can’t wait for another Edgar Wright movie
Of course they waited until 2012 to finally start the on the Worlds End.
Can’t Wait ! Such a huge fan of the first two movies, and Simon Pegg & Nick Frost as well.
Edgar Wright has slowly become a director I greatly admire. He is rarely ever talked about, even in reference to some of his own films (I suppose Pegg and Frost take a lot of the spotlight), but every time I see one of his movies, I always feel satisfied. He is one of the few that I’d pay to see more of
