IFC Midnight (via BloodyDisgusting) has released the first trailer for the Eli Roth-produced Cabin Fever remake. Travis Zariwny (who produced and storyboarded the underseen Behind the Mask) directs the remake from Eli Roth and Randy Perlstein's original script about a group of lusty, vapid twenty-somethings who trek up to an isolated cabin for your standard college-age 'nanigans and end up contracting an especially virulent and disgusting flesh eating virus.

The remake stars Gage Golightly (Teen Wolf), Dustin Ingram (Paranormal Activity 3), Samuel Davis (From Dusk Till Dawn), Matthew Daddario (Delivery Man, and yes, her brother) and Nadine Crocker (Deadgirl). Check out the first trailer below.

The original film was known for being a cover-your-eyes nasty body horror gorefest with a couple infamous gags, in particular, capable of testing even the strongest of stomachs, for its fratboy nightmare porno approach to sex, and for a baffling, odd, but funny sense of humor that pops up throughout the movie. It is very much an Eli Roth movie, embedded with his idiosyncracies as a filmmaker. So, the idea of someone shooting from his script holds some promise if they were to imbue it with their own quirks. However, this trailer, and maybe because it's towards the end of a Friday shift, but it felt like glimpsing a parallel universe or an alternate timeline where everything is very generic. It's fine. Not the most terrible timeline, but the most meh timeline. We've seen this all before, beat for beat, but it's been stripped of what made it notable. However, hopefully Zariwny brings a unique quality of his own to the material that isn't on display in the trailer.

Here's the official synopsis.

Executive producer Eli Roth presents this reboot of his instant classic gorefest, which features all new characters and all new kills. This story is familiar: fresh out of college, a group of five friends retreat to a remote cabin in the woods for one last week of partying- only to become snacks for a gruesome, flesh-eating virus. What’s surprising are the ingenious new deaths, which offer a fresh spin on a horror-comedy milestone. With Gage Golightly (Teen Wolf) and Dustin Ingram (Paranormal Activity 3).

Cabin Fever debuts in limited release and On Demand on February 12th.
