Earlier this year, we reported that Ellen Page was attached to the small-scale post-apocalyptic tale, Into the Forest.  Patricia Rozema's adaptation is based on Jean Hegland's novel, which is about two teenage sisters who live alone in a remote part of the Northern California forest, miles away from any neighbor, when society unexpectedly collapses.  There is talk of a war overseas and upheaval in Congress, but it still comes as a shock when the electricity runs out and gas is nowhere to be found.  The sisters are left to hope the power eventually returns as their supplies dwindle.  A press release now confirms that Page will star as well as produce, and Evan Rachel Wood will play her sister.  The brief synopsis in the press release doesn't mention them being teenagers, but the 26-year-old actresses look just young enough to pull it off if the movie sticks to that aspect of the book.

Hit the jump for the press release.  Page will next be seen in X-Men: Days of Future Past, and Wood's new film, Charlie Countryman, will be in limited release on November 15th.

Here's the press release:
