Now that I’ve seen The World’s End, Neill Blomkamp‘s Elysium remains as my last must-see movie of the summer.  Blomkamp’s District 9 was an electrifying debut feature, and the gory explosions went down much smoother when accompanied by social commentary and Sharlto Copley‘s performance.  The director’s new film brings those exciting elements and adds a bigger canvas, Matt Damon, and Jodie Foster.  We’ve seen far too many empty-headed spectacle films this summer, and while they can be fun, I’m hoping that Blomkamp can help finish out the blockbuster season with something a little meatier.

I’m pleased to announce we’re giving away 20 pairs of passes to the Atlanta screening of Elysium.  Hit the jump to find out how you can see the movie early and for free.  The film also stars Alice Braga, Diego Luna, William Fichtner, and Wagner MouraElysium opens August 9th.

To enter for a chance to win a code that will allow you to redeem up to 2 admit-one passes, send an e-mail to Collider.Passes@gmail.com with the subject line “ELYSIUM”. The screening is on Wednesday, August 7th at 8PM at Regal Atlantic Station, so don’t enter if you think you’ll be unavailable. Please note that a pass is not a ticket. And here’s the official synopsis for Elysium:

In the year 2154, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined planet. The people of Earth are desperate to escape the crime and poverty that is now rampant throughout the land. The only man with the chance to bring equality to these worlds is Max (Matt Damon), an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium. With his life hanging in the balance, he reluctantly takes on a dangerous mission—one that pits him against Elysium’s Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) and her hard-line forces—but if he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on Earth as well.
