Anyone who’s ever seen a Star Wars movie knows what the opening title sequence looks like because it’s the same for every movie: blocks of scrolling text providing some context for the story and set to the iconic movie theme. But, if you ever wondered what it would look like with a stylized James Bond-esque opener, check out this fan-made video.

Vimeo user Kurt Rauffer of New York City’s School of Visual Arts revealed his semester-long project on Vimeo that gives a new look to The Empire Strikes Back. He wrote in the caption how “the style and tone of the animation was inspired by the James Bond title sequences.” It’s also set to “Spectre” by Radiohead, one of the rejected songs for the latest 007 film’s theme. He continued, “I really wanted to play on the concept of Luke trying to find himself and true purpose, so the music and inspiration felt fitting.”

Elsewhere in the caption, Rauffer touched upon the importance of The Empire Strikes Back and how he came to develop this title sequence.

Growing up in the 90s where Star Wars was released on VHS, the franchise really sparked my imagination as a child. It not only let me exercise my imagination but also supplied me with some of the happiest memories as I watched it with my family. After re-watching "The Empire Strikes Back," I decided to use this as a chance to create a homage in the form of a title sequence. This would also serve as my senior "thesis" at SVA and took me the whole semester to complete.

This’ll be something fun to think about as Rian Johnson prepares to release Star Wars: Episode 8, though there’s no way Lucasfilm would change something so iconic as the title crawl.
