Summit Entertainment has released a few new high-resolution images and an IMAX poster for director Gavin Hood’s highly anticipated adaptation Ender’s Game.  It feels like word on the film has gone a bit quiet as of late given author Orson Scott Card’s anti-gay comments, but Hood and producer Roberto Orci have made it clear that they do not share Card’s views.  Summit is doing its best to keep the marketing campaign on track, and these new images and IMAX poster tease the sci-fi goodness that awaits fans and general audiences alike.

Hit the jump to check out the images and poster, and click here to read our set visit report.  The film stars Asa Butterfield, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, Abigail Breslin, and Harrison Ford.  Ender’s Game opens in traditional theaters and IMAX on November 1st.

Here’s the official synopsis for Ender’s Game:

In the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Mazer.

Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is recruited to join the elite.  Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult challenges and simulations, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School.  Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.

What sort of crap is this? What hateful anti-gay comments? That he believes homosexuality to be a choice? That’s hateful? That’s anti-gay? That he expressed a belief that no act of court or Congress could make the coupling between a same-sex couple the same as a coupling between a man and a woman? Croesus, you sensitive wonks, that’s truth. That’s the way words work. If you call a horse’s tail a leg he still has only four legs, because calling a tail a leg DOES NOT MAKE IT SO. No matter how hard you want to believe. On the face of things his comments are and were and remain just fine. I’ve seen nothing but projection and hyper-sensitivity regarding Card, and it’s high time you stopped feeding the BS machine.

Justify your comment that word on the movie has gone quiet because of his “hateful anti-gay comments” or edit the article to take it out. Such blatant moralizing and unnecessary crap has no place in an article about a movie, so why oh why did you feel the need to inject such a wholly unrelated and unwanted piece of detritus into your coverage? C’mon, collider, I expected better from you. Don’t live down to the lowest common denominator here.

Never said word had gone completely quiet, just “a bit” quiet. Summit released a final trailer a month ago and didn’t ramp up any more marketing until last week, when two new TV spots hit. The studio has been working to distance itself from Card for the past few months:

It’s going to be a bit difficult for the studio to distance itself from OSC considering HE’S THE CREATOR OF ENDERS GAME!

As someone who’s gay, I think its a shame that Card has hateful views and that he is getting any attention at all. DagnerMouse do some research, its hate. Your apparent rage over Collider mentioning it in an update about the movie is super hilarious.

But all of that aside, the movie looks like that awful ‘Thunderbirds’ movie. Hopefully it does just as well.
