Watch a Trailer for Tomorrow’s New ENDER’S GAME Trailer

by     Posted 1 year, 14 days ago

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a trailer for a trailer, but Summit Entertainment is here to fill that void with a preview look at tomorrow’s new Ender’s Game trailer.  The film tells the story of Andrew “Ender” Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a young boy sent away to Battle School to hone his military skills in order to save the world from an impending alien invasion.  With the release date looming closer, a larger portion of the film’s visual effects are ready for public viewing, so this trailer smartly appears to be selling the pic’s impressive visuals, along with more Harrison Ford growling.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer preview, and check back here tomorrow, August 6th at 9am PST to watch the full new trailer.  The film also stars Hailee Steinfeld, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, and Abigail Breslin.  Ender’s Game opens November 1st.

Here’s the official synopsis for Ender’s Game:

In the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Mazer.

Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is recruited to join the elite.  Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult challenges and simulations, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School.  Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.

Christ! Stop it with the trailers for trailers already

They’re trying very hard to switch all the talk about the movie away from Orson Scott Card.

Looks like a well polished movie. But will it be any good?

  • Petras

TJ. If what you are saying is all true, then yes, the movie is not the book; nor could it be without the inclusion of those key elements. A book is a book. A film is a film. There is no comparison. If there were to be a nine year old Ender Wiggin (bullying and murder included) the public would hate it as they do in real life. Except maybe Ang Lee could have done that story some justice. He did well telling LIfe of Pi. Again though, what general public wants the story of the Ender, Peter, and Valentine as sociopaths? If they did the entire book, it would have to be at least two movies. One in Battle School and one at Command School with the long coda on the Bugger worlds. And please let Graff go thin-fat-thin. He’s the humor and compassion in the film. I also heard Bean plays a larger part than in the novel.
