A little over a week ago I posted some of my exclusive video interview with “Watchmen” screenwriters Alex Tse and David Hayter. Here’s a link to where Alex Tse talks about “Illustrated Man” and “Frankie Machine”, and here’s a link to where David Hayter talks about his possible involvement in a “Metal Gear Solid” movie and how he’s currently writing the “Lost Planet” movie based on the video game.

But let’s get to the reason you’re here….the rest of the interview!

Below is my extended interview with the two people that wrote Zack Snyder’s “Watchmen movie - Alex Tse and David Hayter.

As you watch the interview you’ll hear both of them talk about their individual involvement and how they're both huge fans of the source material. In fact, both tell great stories about what it means for them to be working on "Watchmen".

But my favorite part of the interview was hearing David Hayter relay his experiences of talking with the elusive Alan Moore about writing the “Watchmen” movie and hearing what Alan told him.

If you’re curious how “Watchmen” came to the screen, or even if you’re just an aspiring screenwriter, I think you’ll really enjoy this interview.

Finally, below the second part are links to all our other “Watchmen” coverage.

Alex Tse and David Hayter part 1

  • They talk about how they both got involved in Watchmen and how they’re both huge fans of the graphic novel
  • David says how he originally pitched it as a 6 hour miniseries on HBO
  • Alex talks about his history with the comic
  • David tells a great story about talking with Alan Moore when he first got involved with the project

Alex Tse and David Hayter part 2

  • Alex mentions his thoughts on Alan Moore and his Hollywood issues
  • I ask when they are writing a script how the budget influences how they write the movie
  • David talks about his history with the project and how the budget has shifted along the way
  • David talks about 20th Century Fox and X-Men
  • Alex talks about how things changed on Watchmen due to budget and tells a great story about the opening credits
  • David tells a great story about X-Men and how he wrote a scene that he loved and due to budget it got cut
