"500 Days of Summer" debuted at this year's Sundance Film Festival. Our own Kenny Fischer called it "one of the most beautiful, visually inventive, and energetic romantic comedies I've ever seen" while Devin Faraci over at CHUD called it "fairly unoriginal, quite conventional movie that is designed to specifically appeal to people who think they're very original and not at all conventional." I say a fight to the death in a steel cage is the only way to settle this but neither have accepted my invites for that battle. In my book, if you're not willing to die for your opinion about "500 Days of Summer", you're not fit to talk about movies…or live.
I don't know who is right but this trailer leans in Faraci's favor. I'm a huge fan of Joseph Gordon Levitt while Zooey Deschanel just seems to be the idealized indie girl (which is so sad; Raise your standards, indie guys! Sardonic wit cannot sustain your love!). This trailer does neither of them any favors.

For those just tuning in (or who didn't attend Sundance), here's a brief
synopsis:
This is a story of boy meets girl, begins the wry, probing narrator of 500 DAYS OF SUMMER, and with that the film takes off at breakneck speed into a funny, true to life and unique dissection of the unruly and unpredictable year-and-a-half of one young man's no-holds-barred love affair.
Check out the trailer below. "500 Days of Summer" hits theatres in a limited release on July 24th.
