Megan Fox was created in a laboratory. This is shocking news I know, but she just seems designed to be the object of affection of lonely nerds the world over. It's one thing to be the female lead in "Transformers". That's just a good career move and it would be insanity to turn it down. But then she decided to star in Diablo Cody's new film "Jennifer's Body" which sounds like a great horror flick and all geeks know that Diablo Cody is awesome (provided they can get past their misogyny and fear of ridiculously cool women). Now she's signed on to do not one but TWO comic book movies. Right now, thousands of geeks are going to buy slabs of marble so they can start carving some statues.
The first comic book flick is "Jonah Hex" starring Josh Brolin as the deformed gunslinger. In the film, she'll play Leila, who's also a gunslinger and Hex's love interest. She joins Hex to stop a voodoo practitioner (John Malkovich—seriously, how badly do you want to see this film) who wants to raise an army of the undead to liberate the south. I assume since he's the villain he wants to make the south secede from the Union; not liberate the south as in free the slaves. If it were the latter, the audience would be really conflicted: "Well, I don't support slavery and racism but Megan Fox is really hot."
The other film is "Fathom" which was created by recently deceased artist Michael Turner and follows a young woman named Aspen who learns she is a member of a race of aquatic humanoids who possess the ability to control water. Here's the next part of The Hollywood Reporter's story that I love: "The project was at one point set up at James Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment." Because James Cameron has a first-look deal with all projects involving water.
Here's where THR's story gets even better: When the option lapsed, producer Peter Safran scooped it up and began packaging it, eventually attracting Fox, a fan of the comic since its 1998 debut, when it became the top-selling comic of the year. Fox had been seeking Turner to investigate "Fathom's" rights availability. Fox is now helping develop and shape the adaptation, which is being written by Jordan Mechner, the creator of video game "Prince of Persia."
So let me get this straight: Fox was already a fan of the comic, was actively seeking it out to adapt it, and is now actively developing it? Wipe the drool off your faces, boys. She's a machine engineered to harvest your insatiable desire and transform it into a renewable resource. Megan Fox-bot also cares about the environment.
