Opening tomorrow is the great comedy “Observe and Report”. By now I’m sure you’re sick of me raving about the film, so let’s quickly jump into why you’re here: my video interview with Michael Pena.

As I said when I posted my onset interview with Michael, if you’re familiar with his previous work in “The Shield”, “World Trade Center”, “Babel”, or “The Lucky Ones”, you might not be sure he could do comedy. But thanks to writer/director Jody Hill taking a chance, I think you’re going to see Michael in a lot more comedic roles as he is really great as one of the mall cops in the film. Also, wait till you see the way he talks and dresses.

Anyway, during our interview Michael talked about his hair and accent in the movie, what it was like to try and keep up with all the improv, getting cast, comic books, and a lot more. If you’re a fan of Michael’s work, I think you’re really going to enjoy this interview. Take a look.

Michael Pena part 1

·         Michael puts me on the spot and I turn it back on him…

·         I talk about how he disappears in the role

·         Michael brings up James Lipton

·         We talk about Foot Fist Way

·         He talks about how he created his character (American Pimp)

·         Michael talks about his audition and how weird it was to have the director be so enthusiastic

·         What was it like on set – what did he bring to his character and what was the improv like

·         What was it like filming in an abandoned mall in New Mexico

·         How did the costume help him out with his character

Michael Pena part 2

·         Does he have any idea of what sort of roles he wants to do in the future

·         We talk about the comic Preacher

·         Is he interested in doing any comic book movies

·         Michael talks about working with Werner Herzog on My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done and what it’s about

·         Says he’d love to do another comedy for his next film
