Some of you are familiar with the Susan Cooper book series called “The Dark is Rising,” and some of you are not.

For the people who aren’t familiar with the books, it’s a five part series that was written in the 1960’s and 70’s and it's now being made into a feature film by 20th Century Fox and Walden Media – the same folks who are making the Narnia series with Disney.

While most movies that are made from books start with the first in the series, the studios have elected to make the second book first and they’ve also decided to rewrite most of it. Obviously certain plot points are staying… but some characters have been added and some have been changed.

Since I haven’t read the books and I’m not familiar with the story, here is the link to winipedia to learn more.

So now the reason we’re here.

About a week ago I got invited to do an interview with Amelia Warner – one of the stars of the upcoming movie – and since they were going to let me shoot it on camera I jumped at the chance.

What’s posted below is my conversation in two parts. We covered all the usual subjects and I’ll admit I was enchanted by her accent. I swear that British accent gets me every time.

Since the movie arrives on October 5th I would imagine we’ll be bombarded by news and footage at this year’s Comic-Con... but until then I hope you enjoy the interview.

And before getting to it… here is the synopsis on the movie.

The first film adaptation of Susan Cooper's acclaimed "The Dark Is Rising Sequence" tells the story of Will Stanton, a boy whose everyday life is turned upside down when he learns that he is the last of the "Old Ones," a group of immortal warriors who have dedicated their lives to fighting the forces of the Dark. As he uncovers a series of mysterious clues, some dating back to the founding of Britain and others going all the way back to biblical times, Will discovers that with the Dark once again rising, the future of the world rests in his hands.

Amelia Warner Interview Part 1 2

  • She talks about her character and what the movie is about.
  • How the movie is a lot different than the book and what some of the differences are.
  • I ask how she came to the role and about the audition process.
  • About working with Ian McShane and Christopher Eccleston.
  • About filming in Romania.
  • She talks about being able to get away from the set as she wasn’t in all the scenes and the other actors who had to be there the entire time being very jealous.
  • I ask about Comic-Con and will she be there.
