I would say that screenwriter BenDavid Grabinski is having a pretty good month. First his script, "The How-To Guide for Saving the World" ends up on The Black List and today Variety is reporting that Barry Sonnenfeld (pictured right and a bolo tie away from being a Texas oilman) will be stepping up to direct it. The story revolves around an instruction manual for saving the world that is left behind by a secret group who protects the Earth from alien invaders. Unfortunately, that secret group gets wiped out. Sonnenfeld continues, "Unfortunately, a non-action-hero guy not unlike me, in terms of manliness, and a woman who hates him find the book and have to save the planet from an impending attack,"
Grabinksi is a friend of the site and today we're especially proud to count him as such. I genuinely find the plot line (at least as much as provided by Variety and Sonnenfeld) interesting and we here at Collider wish BenDavid all the best…that is until his success sends him into a downward spiral and he's arrested for selling ketamine to pre-schoolers and engaging in reckless bestiality. Then we'll delete this article and pretend this success never happened.
